Course Name: Designing WiMAX Core Networks Training

Deployment Options: Onsite - Instructor-Led Training

Course Duration: 1-2 days depending on audience background and options

Introduction:

This course is targeted at students who are planning a WiMAX deployment, and who need the skills to design a network, balancing the requirements of service quality (including throughput and performance) with minimum capital and operations cost. It is one of three courses in a series which prepare students to take the WiMAX Network Designer™ certification exam.

In this course, students learn a formal approach to the design of the Internet Protocol Core of a WiMAX network. The Core is the portion of the network between the WiMAX Base Station and the interface to the larger Data and Voice network infrastructures. In this portion of the network, the WiMAX subscriber’s traffic is transported by routers and switches through copper and fiber transmission facilities. Proper design of the IP network and proper engineering of these facilities ensures high service quality for the end-user, and ease of operation for the WiMAX provider.

Audience:

This course is designed for students who are working on Designing and configuring WiMAX networks.

Customize it

This 1-2-day course will be customized to your needs and specifications. Enowireless will assist you in identifying those needs and specifications. A word to the wise, there are many vendors of wireless training. They will typically have a broad and general course, one size fits all, already developed and just put your organization’s name on the title slide. This minimizes their effort and time investment. At Enowireless, every course is made to your exact and exacting specifications. We help you ensure what you are getting is what you really need even if at the beginning you weren’t too sure of what that was. We fit the class to your needs. We never fit you into our “standard”, one size fits all, class.

Course Objectives:

At the end of this course, you should be able to:

• Architect the core of a WiMAX Network
• Explain and follow the steps of the DoceoTech core-network design checklist
• Engineer the backhaul links from each WiMAX base station, based on estimated subscriber load and quality of service parameters
• Assure appropriate bandwidth allocation for various traffic classes of service
• Design the IP addressing and routing plan for a WiMAX network
• Evaluate routers and servers for WiMAX core networks
• Prepare equipment lists for your WiMAX network
• Plan for base station construction, installation and commissioning
• Plan for subscriber station installation and configuration

Course Outline

Module 1: IP Network Design At the end of this module you should be able to:

• Explain and follow each step of the DoceoTech core-network design checklist
• Design the IP network settings for all routing components of the network
• Architect the IP routers and servers in an optimal design
• Plan for IP network installation and configuration

Module 2: Capacity and Bandwidth Planning At the end of this module you should be able to:

• Design the bandwidth management allocation for all sites
• Allocate bandwidth for Quality of Service requirements
